We’re excited to announce our annual firm crawl in Washington, D.C. taking place Friday, January 31, 2025. Coordinated by Kali Meeks, Joan Brierton (MSHP ’92), David Hollenberg, and Cory Kegerise (MSHP’03). Plans are still being finalized in previous years we have visited government agencies including the General Services Administration, National Park Service, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the National Gallery of Art. Friday’s events will conclude with a happy hour open to all HSPV alumni, co-sponsored by Weitzman Development & Alumni Relations.
In addition to educating students about their programs and roles and responsibilities, each speaker will discuss the qualifications necessary for employment within their agency. Skill set expands far beyond education and training -- to communication, presentation, public relations and negotiation skills, to name just a few. Even though you may not be eligible for federal employment, international students will also benefit from understanding the regulatory environment, as many federal projects are contracted out to private firms.
The department will be commissioning a charter bus for the group, leaving campus at 6:00am on Friday, January 31. The bus will also return to Philadelphia after the happy hour, leaving DC at 7:30pm.
Since we need to have everyone cleared, the deadline to register for this trip will be Friday, January 17, 2025. The cost to attend is $25, but includes travel to and from Washington, lunch, and happy hour. Those that attended last year are welocme to come again this Spring, while some guests may be the same, there will also be new speakers in 2025.
